    Glock 26 or Glock 27?

    I have had a Glock 27 for CCW for some time now. A few weeks back I bought a 40/9mm conversion barrel and some Glock 26 mags for it so I could practice for less money. I was never a big fan of 9mm (mostly from never having shot it) but after shooting the G27 converted to a G26, 9mm is growing on me.

    I am a decent shot with the G27 in .40, but it seems that it takes a lot less effort to be very accurate with the G27 setup in 9mm. This is making me wonder if I should give up the G27 and get a dedicated G26 to CCW or just keep it how it is with the G27 and shoot 9mm only for practice.

    Of course .40 feels more powerful than the 9mm, which makes me wonder if
    9mm would be as effective against someone with heavy clothing or baggy clothing, for example. I am confident that I can be an accurate shot with .40 but it does take more effort to stay on target than 9mm.

    So if you were in my situation, what would you do, stick with the G27 or get a G26 for a dedicated CCW gun. Thoughts and opinions on either or both? Anyone given up one for the other? Actual experience with them preferred, thanks.

    9mm will lay someone out just fine if need be for defensive reasons. It is cheaper to shoot and the far reduce recoil means you can be that much more accurate with it in a pinch. For a small gun like the 26/27 I'd go 9mm.

        I have said it several times before- 9mm has been killing people dead long before you and I were on this earth and before the internet. It works.

        For for me, everything I shoot is 9mm, no conversion barrels.

          I like the G26, the G27 is a bit snappy in recoil, for me.

            I ccw a G26. I get a lot more range time practicing with the cheaper ammo.

                G27. You can always use a +1 Scherer grip extension and have a 10rd of .40SW...

                      I have the G22 and use the 9mm converson barrel for practice. Best of both worlds. Keep the 27 and use the conversion barrel.

                          God, grant me the serenity
                          To accept the things I cannot change;
                          The courage to change the things I can;
                          And the wisdom to know the difference.

                              If your asking then you already know you want it to be 9mm.

                              The conversion barrel + mags is a compromise and imo a waste of money. The money you would save shooting 9mm is lost buying the barrel and mags plus it's not 100% reliable. I know because I had one and regret taking the "get the conversion barrel, best of both worlds" advice!

                              If your on the fence contemplating 9mm or 40sw, the safe choice is 9mm. Very rarely does anyone regret buying a 9mm.

                              Get the 9mm and be done with it!
