I am right handed, using my left for support my left index was on the trigger guard. When the cylinder exploded one of the pieces shot down right into my middle knuckle, broke the the bone in half and spun the finger around. it broke so close to the knuckle they almost couldnt fix it and would have had to remove it or have been left with it being healed straight. thankfully there was a small piece of bone left on the knuckle side they were able to put 2 screws into so I could start physical therapy and get it bending. I think this kind of thing is pretty rare, im more worried about breaking my legs on the dirt bike then having this happen again.

Not that he could help it based on the ammo box was new, but this is why I never shoot someone elses reloads, ever.

That's just silly in my opinion. This type of thing could have happened with factory ammo just as easily.If it was a timing issue it would have happened with ANY ammo.

JUST as easy? Are you comparing one Winchester round at random to a random reload? Either you make some awfully good reloads or the ammo makers have darned good lawyers. As for timing, I'll double check the manufacturer's recommendations for service and stick to them like I do my cars!

are you suing the seller??? they had have ins.at the time so you have some leeway for limitations on time....just saying,curious too .who was the range???city at least so i know to check my ammo...

I trust my reloads more than anything that any manufacture sells

I disagree re loades that are loaded right are not going to do this.That must have been a double charge or someone used the wrong powder.

I dread this happening when shooting factory 500 grain out of my SW 500. Just what sort of damage would i be looking at, could i be missing a hand or worse.

I just decided to shoot my Airweight this past Sunday.
Hadn't fired it in a few years.
I was only shooting Cowboy loads though.
Scary stuff.

I cant say what range this happened at. They did pay my medical bills but I didnt want to sue them for a couple reasons, the risk of one of our only local ranges closing down, and that fact that we dont need anymore negative cases involving firearm in the court system. Thanks for all the good wishes on recovery guys, I think Its as healed as it will ever be. The lesson I learned by this was to never get to comfortable, always check out your ammo before loading (new or reload).
