question about HK USP production

so i've been looking around for a usp compact and noticed a lot of people ask what year it is in the for sale section. is there some bad years for the pistol? or should i just get any i find in good condition?

I think they want to know just to get an idea of how old the pistol is that they're looking at. It also could give an indication of when the night sights need to be replaced if they were installed when the gun was bought.

Yes it depends on the color. Green lasts the longest, yellow and orange don't last as long.

I have not heard of any bad production years. Green night sights last approx. 10-12 years.

I have owned a few of them and really didnt care for the USP compact .40 because anything over 25 feet the gun was all over the place with really bad accuracy. I would go with a full size USP 40 over the compact 40, just me though.

As far as the years its about the night sights. I have one dating back to when they came with LE stamped magazines and its still going strong.

i was thinking compact 40 because of the smaller frame for my small hands haha. its ben quite a while since i shot one so i need to go try the full and compact out to see what fits well

Just see how bright they are in the dark... if you feel like they're getting dim change 'em.

It's a German thing. Walthers have date codes on them too, so do GSGs (German Sport Guns). I wish more manufacturers would adopt this practice.
