Need Help with Rear Sight Installation

I was able to get the rear sight on basically a little over half way until the
Sight pusher started giving me trouble and I could see that it simply wasn't
    going to budge another millimeter.

So, I started using a punch and hammer to get it the rest of the way on...

I don't have a vice, which is what I believe I need to get this rear sight the rest of the way on.

Anyone have time this Sat. Sun, or Monday to help me out??

I live in the East Bay.

What type of handgun is this?

For my Sigs, I usually tap as much as I can manually, usually only 1/8th or 1/4th of the sight will engage, before manual becomes too tough. I usually engage manually for the first portion, because the Sig sight pusher is so strong, that if the alignment is somewhat off, the sight pusher can potentially ram that sight into the channel askew, so that the sight gets ruined.

Is it too late to back the sight out? Manually tap in the sight so that it lines up correctly, and then use the sight pusher.

Sometimes I use a very fine grit sandpaper and polish off the bottom of the sight a bit as well, just to make it go smoother.

      not an alignment problem.

Most sight makers make their sight lugs a bit too big.

This is a Kensight adjustable rear going on a Glock 17L slide.

So, do you have a vice?

Another opinion for you if you have a work bench or something super heavy that won't move.

Take the slide off your handgun and place it flat on the work bench, sights up. Take couple pieces of 2x4 and nail them around the slide, blocking it in. If you want to prevent any upward movement, make sure the 2x4 on the side of the slide is same height as the slide... and nail a 2x4 across the top, blocking the slide's upward movement.

Instead vise... and it's rock solid, used to do it all the time
