have you fired the gun and is the POA different from the POI? what makes you think the sights are off? is it shooting high low left or right?
A SWAT Monkey is a powerful psychological tool. Imagine you are a criminal hiding in a closet and you hear "Release the monkey!" You would shudder.

unless you pretty experienced, i'd suggest you shoot it SA from a rest. start close enough so that you can get a 1-2" group...maybe 7 yards...before moving the target out futher to determine POI relative to POA. try all three common sight alignments to see which your gun is sighted in with

how tight is your group and how far is the target?
how far left is the center of your group?

an easy way to check is having a better/more experienced shooter try you gun

Next time at the range, ask the guy with the most guns in his booth to try your gun and see if it's hitting off for him too

No seriously, have someone else shoot it and see if it's off. If it is off, find yourself a handgun rest that supports both barrel and heel. Use this for adjustment and fire. If your range has a sight adjustment tool... great, use that. If not... a brass hammer and long wood dowel is good for tapping sights.
