How do you dry fire a glock?

    1. Does your dry fire not include a trigger pull? or
    2. Do you just "pull" no the decocked pistol? or
    3. Do you cock it on each dry fire?
    Any other ways?

I did #3 but got tired of it so I stopped cocking those single actions when dry firing (#2). I've found #2 works well for good single action triggers (but not glocks).

Any hints on glock dry fire?

You have to cock it every time. You don't have to pull the slide back all the way, though. about half an inch is enough to cock it.

There's little to no point in pulling a trigger if it's not cocked (unless it's a pistol that fires in double action also).
Then another horse PONY came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other. To him was given a huge sword. My kinda guy.

Yep. I use the press check method. Thumb in trigger guard, index finger under the muzzle and just pinch it enough to cock it.

I tried to play with the glock's mushy trigger (or maybe it was my mushy finger) and tried to "pull" w/ similar trigger weight on it while decocked. But I didn't get good results For my 1911 types, the above actually worked really well.

Yes, you will have to pull the slide every time to reset the trigger. There are some after market Glock trigger set that was meant for dry firing (it will self reset everytime). But I believe was around $60. For that, I'm happy to pull the slide myself, and use that for ammo.

I didn't even want to open this thread. But now I'm curious about the $60 trigger that self resets. That sounds like the way to go for a glock... that'd be a true DA (2nd strike capable).

Goes to show, there are no dumb questions. Only dumb me for thinking I'd seen it all already.

The theory behind dry firing a striker fired weapon (Glock) is that you're pulling the trigger and the striker is doing its thing every time. Pull the slide just enough fo ryou to feel it reset is my advice.

Asked and answered. Just no way to practice that second/third trigger pull without lowering the gun. I'm thinking that was your point. Otherwise, why does it matter? It doesn't hurt the gun, mine loves to have her trigger pulled.

you know... they make a trigger kit for glocks just for dry firing.

If you trap the trigger to the rear, and cock it while holding the trigger back, you can also practice your trigger reset while you are dry firing.
