    Acusport .357 bisley

Hi all. I just signed on to the forums. Seems like a great info source for shooting in California.

I'm looking to purchase one of the new Ruger Acusport .357 mag bisleys. Does anyone know of any SF Bay Area gun stores that sell them? Am hoping if anyone local carries them, they are not sold out already. If so, I guess Gunbroker.com is next.

    Thanks.

Give Bullseye Shooting Range in San Rafael a call and see what they can do.
    Please, calm down.

      You'll love a full-sized Acusport S/S Bisley.

      I have one in .45LC (S/S, unfluted+rollmarked cylinder).
My buddy has one in 44Mag (S/S, unfluted+rollmarked cylinder also).

They're GREAT: while some may feel their grip looks a tad odd (I dont!) they can handle monster loads and distribute the recoil energy properly - much much better than a regular single-action grip.

Thanks for the info. Will give Bullseye a call.

Yeh, I've always wanted a bisley grip Ruger. I have a .22 Single-Six convertible and .45 Blackhawk convertible but have always thought the XR3-RED plowhandle grip is just too small - at least for me. It is fine with the .22 but boarderline with the .45. I've had custom flat bottomed grips made for my S/A Rugers but more of a grip would still be nice. Have heard nothing but good things about the Acusport bisleys. Can't wait to get one.

Hi. Bill mentioned my .44MAG Bisley up above. I picked it up a few months ago from a fellow Calgunner. It's very nice.

I find the grip makes it relatively easy to shoot without beating up my hand. I've tried Bill's S&W in .44MAG and while I can shoot it, my hand hurt after just a few shots. Same for Rugers with normal Blackhawk grips. Stout .45LC loads I can just handle, and .357MAG is no problem for me in any handgun. Bisley .44MAG I can shoot all day.

I'm not about to try anything more powerful such as S&W .500 or .460 until someone makes a Bisley version.

Parag- glad you're enjoying that .44, it's sure a sweet shooter. The Acusports are the nicest Rugers I've seen in a long time.

I would not want to shoot a .44 mag with the regular Blackhawk grip - it would be bisley all the way. I have an S&W 629 Classic. I hated the stock Hogue trip with the metal back strap sticking out that came on it. The first time I shot it, after a box of 50 .44 mags, my hand was sore for a week. Swapped it out with the big 500 magnum grip - made all the difference in the world. That grip does for the D/A guns what I'm sure the bisley does for the S/A guns.
