Gent on another forum I frequent posted a pic of this 45:

No clue what it is, no identifiable markings whatsoever. Single stack magazine and single action trigger. What says you pistol gurus of CG? Halp!

Parts of it look a lot like a CZ variant. That's all I got...

lol I was thinking handmade too, its the trigger guard that made me think that, and does it have a rail on it?

A prototype, proof of concept or pre-production model for some manufacturer. No markings, doesn't appear to have a front sight and the rail doesn't appear to be notched, so definitely not finished.

It's ugly as all hell, that's for sure.

By the shape of the grip, and the trigger guard, I'm going to guess

Astra. Possibly a prototype, or concept/early model auto.

If you look closely, you can see a notch/cutaway for a front sight (just not installed), and not all accessory rails have notches cut in them. Older (weaver style) didn't always have them.

See I was thinking the same thing. Astra or maybe something from Star pistols.

Or it could in fact just be a smiths pistol born out of pure boredom.

Samsies. I see nothing illegal on that gun.

a gun without identifying marks or a serial # in CA is illegal. I posted one a while back to have one ID'd and as soon a people seen it without any markings I got a whole lot of grief about it.

I didn't say it didn't have a serial number, I said no identifying marks.

You can most likely search by the serial number since most handguns are registered.
