    Back up Revolver?

Looking to get a back up revolver. and potentially CCW if my beautiful state ever comes around.

I also think the M&P is to pricey...so any others?

S&W 442 or 642 are great guns, lightweight, easy to conceal and very accurate. I have a 442 and love it. I got it new for $450 plus tax and fees. The Ruger LCR looks like a great gun too. I have held one but not fired one. The 442/642 are a little slimmer in the frame and I prefer them over the LCR. I have been tempted to buy an LCR but haven't given in to the temptation yet.

On duty, I carried a Colt Agent. Off-duty, I've carried the Agent, S&W Model 49 and a Colt Mustang Plus II .380. I like them all.

                    Airweight J frame S&W

I like the S&W 642 with boot grips. It weighs 15 ounces empty and conceals easily.

Ruger LCR. Super light and very easy to shoot. Smooth trigger pull. I put 100 rounds through mine yesterday and could have put 100 more, recoil is very manageable. My 11 year old even likes to shoot it. Fits in your back pocket. There is a guy on gunbroker that makes custom holsters for it so it looks like a wallet in your pocket. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=170471110 Good luck with you're decision.

^Have not shot one, but in handling the LCR's they seem very nice.

I like almost any .38 snubnose. Small, light, 5 rounds that will do the job, easy to carry and conceal. I use a pocket holster. Puts the gun in your front pocket and does not print. Easy to put your hand on the gun in a casual manner without attracting attention. Everybody carries cellphones and stuff in the front pocket so it looks natural.

I still carry a Colt Dec.Spl. 2 and a S&W 637 on occassion. The Colt gives me 6 shots in a package not much bigger than the "J" frame.
I wouldn't waste my money on a 2" .357. The barrel just isn't long enough to generate the velocities to justify the additional recoil and muzzle flash over a good +P .38 spl. I just don't get it. I fired them, they are unconfortable after 2 or 3 rounds and you don't get any additional benefits. Well, except the CSF and you're a few more bucks down.
Trauras revolvers and now even the Armscor .38 revolver (looks just like an old Colt Agent) are viable options. Try some at an range that rents them and make an informed decision. Enjoy, little BUGs are fun.
