The short answer, no. If it's not on the roster and you are a CA resident you can't buy an off roster gun brand new. However, if you find a CA resident selling it in CA they can PPT to you legally.

You can buy the .44 and then purchase the .357 bolt, barrel, and mag from Magnum Research.

The roster lists new guns legal to sell in the PRK. Absent the gun on the roster, it's no-go. Post a 'wanted' ad, buy the gun used from another Californian.
