    Beretta 92 FS - What's the Difference?

What's the difference between a Beretta 92FS 9MM made in America compared with the same gun made in Italy? (besides like 4,000 miles)

In a simple field strip , my older italian made version has an anodized aluminum recoil guide...and my friends brand new stainless american made version has a polymer recoil guide.

Also his chamber loaded indicator was much more prominent than mine...that was about all I noticed when we pulled them apart ( Kinda had to laugh though , they visibly stamp " Stainless " all over that pistol...like the color didnt tip you off already )

here is a little less known fact about the Italian made VS 92

the civilian sear pin is supposed to measure .0985. The military sear pin is supposed to measure .1014. The military uses over size pins to correspond with the biger sear pin hole. my recent made Italian made actually have the larger sear pin. while other forum member have confirm that the sear pin for older model measurement to be .097.

the newer 92 FS also came with polymer coated hammer.

There are a few polymer parts in the newer pistols, trigger, guide rod, mag release, lanyard loop, and part of the safty. I bought some steel triggers for mine.

I believe the hammer is still steel. Or at least mine is. Its the trigger that is plastic

While we're here arguing about the latest high tech running shoes, there's some Kenyan out there running barefoot. Guess who's gonna win the marathon?

I have shot my Italian made 92fs against my friends American made one and we both agree that the Italian is better quality! The American made one has these weird lumps on the finish. Not a deal breaker, but cosmetically uglier and sloppier looking than the Italian. The trigger on the Italian is alot cleaner in S/A mode and has noticeably less flex than the American made one. Could just be our two models, but that's my experience. Other people swear by the Italian as well, and dealers highlight this fact for a reason. I do believe they cost a bit more as well.
