    Pistol differences

I've been looking at purchasing one of the following 4 pistols:

Glock 17 or Glock 19 ( I prefer the smaller 19 but both are nice)

    or

    Sig226 or 229

Now I'm not asking which is better, my question is what is the difference between the 226 and the 229? Is it just a size difference like the 17 to 19? I've looked on the sig sauer website and haven't be able to find a definate answer.

The 229 is basically just a 226 with a slightly shorter barrel. I believe the grip dimensions are the same.
Then another horse PONY came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other. To him was given a huge sword. My kinda guy.

226 vs 229 differences are a shorter barrel and grip.

To further the differences, older P226s made outside of the USA have stamped carbon steel slide while the current U.S. P226 have milled stainless steel slides. The US slides are heavier by comparison.

The P229 have always come with a stainless steel slide to handle 357SIG and 40S&W. A small difference is the rear serrations do not extend the whole height of the slide.

The P228 will have the stamped carbon slide, available only in 9mm. Also a compact like the P229.

As already said, barrel/slide and grip are shorter for both comparisons.

But between a G17 & G19, the grip size is noticably different feeling between the two as the G19 is much shorter. Where as the grip size between a P226 and P229 feel a lot closer in size and not really that different feeling, for me at least. All are great guns, so get whatever fits your hand the best.
