Don't be a baby and just Sawzall it yourself

No but really, $100 is dirt cheap IMO. If the smith is reputable I'd take the deal before he changes his mind.

It's just a 1/2" round on each end of a pin that fits the pivot hole for the thumb safety. Even after using the guide, there's a fair bit of fitting.... then some re-finishing......

As noted above, if the guy has a good reputation, you might hurry over there before the price goes up.
        all the best,

There are some people that it's just not worth engaging.

It's a muzzle BRAKE, not a muzzle break. Or is your muzzle tired?

Jig is only $43 to start with (straight from the manufacturer):

As others have mentioned, for anything other than self-applied cold blue, the refinish of the frame is going to cost you a lot more that that....

Same principle, only lower - he wants to "round butt" the bottom of his 1911 and give it the Dan Wesson CBOB look. If his gun is stainless should be pretty simple procedure, probably easier than fitting the grip safety contours.

Damn - now I'm thinking about this for my stainless Detonics.

              Thanks (and oops)......

Still worth $100 if you don't know what you are doing....

Does that include the MSH? If so, BONUS!!!

Go pay the money... I spent about 30 hours between cutting, filing, rounding, polishing, drilling, etc.

Well worth the $100 even without the MSH included.

well if they for sure knew what they where doing i would, but they where like.... "umm... yea thatll cost you aroudn 100 labor and it might change if it takes more time... yea, also we dont have the jig so you will also have to pay for that..."

after talking to him i am more confident doing it myself. cutting, pollishing, lil worried about getting the pins drilled in the exact spot even with the drill... but again, the guy that said he would do it for "around" $100 didnt build my confidence that he was capable...

the good guys that do it all the time are gonna charge close to $200 just labor...

i think i need to just spend the $45 to get the jig and try it myself. i know i can do it...
thats why i was hoping someone did it with the jig and didnt need it anymore maybe i could get it even cheaper then $45 im such a cheap bastard...
