    Ruger SP101 snub

I have a Sp101 with a 2.25 barrel. It has been alot of fun shooting and quite a challange becoming accurate at 15 and 25 yards. As you know it has a very short sight radius and requires precision trigger control. I am considering buying a Hogue rubber grip. I use this gun for target shooting and home protection but not as a carry gun so increased bulk is not a problem. Is this a good idea or am I wasteing my money?

The Hogue shifts your hand down on the gun a bit, which I don't like.
The larger gripping area is nice and more comfortable to shoot, which I do like.
I keep the Hogue for range days where I will be shooting a lot.

I read about the grip area being lower at Midway, who sells them. It has always been better for me to keep my grip as high as possible.

I have the Hogue finger groove grip on my SP101 and I like it a lot. The stock grip is comfortable but the Hogue is even more comfortable; it fits my hand great. The only downside to the Hogue grip is that it is a little larger so if you want to conceal the gun it makes it a little more difficult. I would say get it, you will like it.

I like the Pachmayer better. It's a bit rounder than the Hogue and I think makes pointing a bit more natural, at least for me. I find recoil with 110s and 125s in 357 to be pretty easy to handle.
