Question on Glock Brass Mag Wells

    Hello,

I am a new member to CalGuns, as well as new handgun owner. I recently purchased a Glock 17 RTF2, and I absolutely love it. It has been recommended to me to purchase an Extented Brass Mag Well for the Glock. To all faster reload and a +5.5 to 6.0 oz of bottom counter weight.

I would like to get your feed back and opinion on this matter, what you like, dislike of the Brass Extended Mag Wells as well as any tech specs anyone can deliver on them. I found a few however it looks as though i would have to drill into the back of the grip to perm. attach the Mag Well, which leaves an exposes screw on the back grip. Please do provide your feed back on this.

    Thanks

With proper technique, mag changes should be fast. You don't really need it IMHO. It is not a 1911. Also, if you are competing in the production class of the event you are shooting in, which people typically do with Glocks, it is very likely not legal.

Glocks are very easy to reload fast. The magwell design makes for a quick learning curve. What I do with mine is I place my index finger along the front of the mag so that top of finger is, more or less, in front of the first round in the magazine. Then, as I move up to place the magazine into the pistol, my index finger fits into the notch at the front of the magwell and guides the mag in perfectly. Very quick, and very easy to master.

          Exhibit A:

Edit: I was just looking at pictures of RTF2's and it looks like Glock got rid of the notch in the grip! Why do they have to mess with perfection?

The same principle still works, but you don't have the nice notch to help you out. You shouldn't need a magwell.
