What's the requirement to buy handgun in CA

For a private-party-transfer, I know we have to go through a FFL-01 dealer. What other documentation is required from the buyer/or seller?

the buyer will have to present his handgun safety certificate to the FFL, pay the dros, and have proof of a cali-compliant lock or safe. I'm pretty sure that's all that's needed.
either start being proactive or leave the state. The longer you're here, and waiting for bills to pass, the less rights you will have.

your right thumb for the finger printing, as well as a state ID(CA ID or CA DRL)

        so to recap, you need:

        CA ID,
        Proof of Residence
        HSC
money for the transfer as agreed with the dealer(otherwise it's a theft )
        your right thumb

well, at least you won't need a thumbhole stock or a PG for pistol-style grasp
