    handgun ? about roster exemption.

    ok so here is this pistol

    uzi looking pistol

    now they can sell it to you even though its not on the roster by fixing a single round sled and making it single shot. ok I got that.

    now since there isn't any thing I can tell illegal about it other than its not on the roster... once you own it could you legally take the mag lock back off and use a 10 rnd mag?

    The restriction is on CA-licensed FFLs from transferring off-Roster handguns unless the buyer is exempt (e.g LEO) or the transaction is exempt (e.g. PPT or interstate intrafamilial transfer).

    Therefore, after a legal transfer, you are restricted from manufacturing an otherwise illegal/restricted weapon (e.g. assault weapon, short-barreled rifle), but not from removing Roster-eligibility-required features or adding other legal/unrestricted things that you happen to like.

    Short answer: assuming all else is legal, yes.
