Does anyone here shoot better with 1 arm?

I was at the range last night and I had a handful of ammo left, so I loaded them and just aimed with 1 arm and I realized that I shoot way the heck better like that. (Ruger P95 9mm)

    Anyone else notice that?

Nope. And certainly not for the all important folow-up for the double-tap. But I shoot mostly .40 S&W and .357 SIG. Maybe with a sissy caliber like 9mm in a sissy pistol (it isn't chromed is it) you can get away with that.

Just kidding. I know you are bored and trolling so I thought I'd take the bait and give you what you asked for. All in fun

Seriously though, maybe you straighten and lock your arm shooting single but bend a lot more double and your control is less?

Maybe Gecko45 or SpecOps has some insight...

I do. Even at 300 yards metal plates I can hit it 99%.

Although I always shoot some rounds with each individual hand when practicing (a good idea since you might not be able to use both in a fight), I shoot much better with both. If you can do it better with one, either something's wrong with your two-handed grip or you're not squeezing the trigger right. More support should equal better aim.

+1 Two hands should keep the firearm more steady during the trigger pull than one--opposing forces are better than a single unidirectional one. Still, as pointed out, it's always a good idea to practice and gain some competency with single hand and offhand shots--never know what you'll need to draw on one day. Chance favors the well-prepared--and well-practiced.

Shooting 1 handed should improve your shooting 2 handed, as you really really have to concentrate on your pull.

If you are being honest, try putting a snap cap in AT THE RANGE just after you have shot a full mag, and see what you do differently. You may be flinching when you are holding with both hands, maybe because you are more used to it.

If you shoot better with one hand then two, I'm willing to bet you aren't holding the gun right when you hold it with both hands. You are probably off balance or placing your finger along the frame. I could be wrong though, but I see a lot of new shooters who do little things like that and don't hold their pistol right.

It likely means that your grip is not neutral. When you hold your hands in front of you as if you are holding your gun, you should be exerting about equal pressure.

For 1 shot at longer range, yes but follow up shots take forever.

anything under 25m I'm just as accurate either way, but 2 handed I can get the follow up shots faster and more accurate.

Nothing new to add about what your doing, but I shoot about the same either way.

careful lawrence. lot of guys here know that a handgun will not shoot 300 yards.

Seriously tho.. if you are shooting better one handed then you are moving the gun with the supporting hand. Not "neutral" as someone put it.

My hands are big and I learned to shoot when lots of folks still shot one handed. I learned to shoot two handed by pretty much just cupping the gun with my off hand and not really gripping it. It is how I shoot today since I have done it so much that it is beyond automatic for me.

I shoot about the same. Its a different feeling and technique though. Takes a lot more concentration. I like to shoot a couple mags with each hand just to stay fresh. Physically it can be tough trying to hold the pistol on target and pull the trigger smoothly without changing your aim. It is also very tiring. I used to hang with a bunch of Bullseye shooters and they would shoot nothing but one handed. I find it fun in that it really challenges me to focus and nothing is better than shooting a small 3 inch group at 25 yards with one hand.

Eh? Even a 22lr will go 300 yards if you go parabolic enough :P
