My friend got a new HK pistol. In a double action mode, when he pulls the trigger slowly you can hear a click when the hammer is about half way to the rear. Is this normal? Or is there something wrong with his pistol?

It is probably the half cock notch.
I just tried it myself, it does click once if you pull the trigger in DA, starting with the trigger all the way down.
It wont do it after a decock however, because the hammer is already in the half cock notch.
