    Educate a Nevadan

    Hi all,

I would like some assistance on CA gun laws. I will be relocating to CA from Las Vegas at the end of the year and I am trying to figure out what I can bring with me and what I cannot.

These are the firearms I would like to bring:

    1. Taurus model 66 6" 357
    2. FN 5.7 - I have the 20 round mags which I believe are illegal. Can I have it if I get the 10 rounders?
    3. Springfield XD45 4" with the hi-caps. Can I have this if I get the 10 rounders?
    4. Two Remington nylon 66 22s. Both have 14 round tube magazines. One was made in the 60's and the other in the 80's. I think they are ok but want to check.
    5. Winchester model 9422 (probably 70's or early 80's model - need to confirm)
    6. Mauser k98
    7. Mosin nagant 9131
    8. M1 Garand

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thx!

From my understanding of the laws (I am not a lawyer, nor would I EVER want to be one...)

You are good except for the Hi-Cap mags....

10 Round mags are OK to import...

You could always submit your list to DOJ Firearms unit... They would get back to you eventually....

All the guns are, AFAIK, legal. The full capacity magazines over 10rds must be left at the border. The handguns must be registered with CA DOJ when you move.

You can bring anything into the state as long as it is not an assault weapon (listed ones and ones that have assult weapon features) You will need to register all of them to be legal though.

Oh, and anything that holds over 10 rounds is a big no no. You can either leave them in NV, mod them to permanently hold 10 rounds, or disassemble them, call them parts, and never reassemble them.

              1. Make sure you don't have a flash hider on the Garand.
              2. Make sure you don't have a threaded barrel on any of the pistols.

Oh, and buy some cool guns (check out the Elite stuff Sig just put out) and bring them in, because once you're in you're not going to buy non-approved handguns

A flash hider on a Garand is perfectly legal.

The M1 has to be transferred to me, other than that and the 10 round mags, you're good to go!
