my bad if this has already been discussed. i receive email from ruger and they're promoting the new .357 version of the lcr to be released next month. i already had the .38 version on my 'to buy' list; this seals the deal.

Interesting, I have try the LCR 38 before and really like it (as far as short barrel conceal revolver goes). But 357mag in a 13oz gun, man that's gonna be a wrist breaker.

I know S&W has a light weight .357, but it costs about $300 more, This looks like a good compromise price/performance.

60 +P rounds through my wife's LCR and I was done.
Immediately after I put it down, I picked up the 1911, went through almost 120 +P rounds and could have gone 100 more.

You can't see it in the photos, but the additional weight is due to the compartment in the grips that's stuffed with band aids.

I've got a 20 oz 41 Magnum, so glad it's ported. I don't mind heavy recoil in bigger guns, but the sharp recoil of these things is like closing your hand around a firecracker. I found 110s and 125s are tolerable, sort of.

I shot the .38 LCR last week and didn't care for it one bit. It stings the hand and the grip is too small for my hands (I'm a larger guy). I'll never be able to conceal carry so a gun like this (while totally cool) isn't something I'll ever need.

Good info. Have not shot one, just fondled a couple at the local gunstores. But this definitely good to know... Being a larger guy myself also

.357 out of a light weight, sub compact revolver (be it an LCR or S&W 340 or 360) is ridiculously intense. Not something I ever want to experience again. Not even once.

I found the .38 Spl to be uncomfortable -- so I can only imagine how unpleasant the LCR would be in .357. Now, if you add another 10-12 oz to it I *might* be interested but it's a much less appealing CCW.

Lots of people swear by them as BUGs but I think there are lots of better guns that are a lot more pleasurable to shoot (like any 9mm sub compact). Additionally, I couldn't hit the side of a barn with it due to the grip size and my lack of man-itude.

I still think you should go rent one (or something similar) to get a feel for it.

Guess I'll stick to the 45's. I might be a big guy, but always a sucker for cute I know many guys that swear by those j frames. Most of them I know are 1911 guys too! Go figure!
