Slingshotting refers to pulling the slide back to chamber a round instead of using the slide stop.
To check your extractor tension, field strip the slide: take out the barrel, FLGR, recoil spring, recoil spring plug and barrel bushing. The extractor will still be in the slide. With a live round, slip it under the extractor hook. With the round held by the extractor's tension, jiggle the slide up and down. The round should not fall out, if it does there isn't enough tension. If the round doesn't freely move up and down, you have too much tension on the extractor. Too tight of an extractor can also cause FTFeed issues, especially while chambering using the slidestop.
