    Fake silencer

If I wanted to send my P22CA out somewhere and have that stupid thread ring removed, and somesort of fake silencer silversoldered or other permanent way of attatching it, it'd still be illegal because it'd probably be considered a barrel shroud of somesort right?
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

Wouldn't a fake silencer be the equivilent of just an extra long barrel?

And just a question.... The fake supressor would have to be permanently attached...

I don't know much about the p22... but would you still be able to disassemble it with a fake silencer attached to the barrel?

I know it'd have to be permanently attached, but you're right. Screw it.

On this topic...does anyone know if S&W is still offering that "fix it for free" thing on the P22? My uncle has a P22 and he is moving from AZ to CA in May. I wanted to check on that for him. If not, can it be altered by end user for compliance?

LOL that reminds me of a guy who used two hands to shoot a Ruger MKIII. One hand on the grip and the other..... on the barrell

eta- caught him before he got a shot off.

Pardon me, but I thought all CA owners of P22s with threaded barrels have already been threatened by CA-DOJ to get the mandated 'repair' done?

Or am I thinking of another arm?

At this point I doubt S&W would do it... but it doesn't cost anything to call their 800 number and ask.

If you were to permanently attach the fake suppressor to your P22 you would never be able to disassemble it.

I just wouldn't fool with it... why poke sticks at the lions if you don't have to?

                  Yea that's it.

ETA: All they did to fix the problem was thread a sleeve over the threads and fasten it with loctite.
