✟ In the beginning was the 1911, and the 1911 was THE pistol, and it was good. And behold the Lord said, "Thou shalt not muck with my disciple John's design for it is good and it workith. For John made the 1911, and lo all of his weapons, from the designs which I, the Lord, gave him upon the mountain."✟

Baer. Or a Dan Wesson if you can find one. Or a S&W PC 1911. Even a used Baer is going to be a better shooter than a loaded Springer.

IIRC ades has a p2 in stock for 1575 If you're in socal. Otherwise a concept 2 may be around your price range, though I must admit it's been a while since I priced out. Baer

                      Is this your first 1911?

If it does - don't spend anywhere near $1500 on your first one. Get a springfield mil-spec or something similar.

Reason being, you will almost definitely do some minor damage to it as you learn how to break down and maintain the gun. There's a few nuances to it - and until you learn those, you're liable to putting "idiot marks" on it. Put idiot scratches in a $600 range beater - no big deal. Put idiot marks on a $1500 gun with a beautiful finish, and you're going to kick yourself for years every time you look at it.

Uh, what do you need in a 1911 for sex appeal, push up bra, g-string, silicon sights?

Under $1000 first choice a S&W SW1911 in stainless. There are a few models to choose from. Second choice a Springfield Armory Loaded.

$1000 - $1500 Dan Wesson or a Springfield Armory TRP.

                              $1500 - $1600 Les Baer.

If this is your first 1911 a S&W PC1911 is a great choice. They are accurate and reliable with a nice trigger.
