    standard vs compensated Glocks

Anyone out there had a chance to compare the standard glocks to the compensated models? Wondering how much compensation actually takes place, and if it's worth the extra $$$ to get the compensated models. any pros and cons that you've noticed??? the pics show a potentially serious con with the fireballs ruining night vision.

Most civilization is based on cowardice. It's so easy to civilize by teaching cowardice. You water down the standards which would lead to bravery. You restrain the will. You regulate the appetites. You fence in the horizons. You make a law for every movement. You deny the existence of chaos. You teach even the children to breathe slowly. You tame.

I've fired both and didn't really see the big deal of the comp model. It helped a little I guess but for small rounds like 9mm, 40 and 45 it didn't seem worth it. There is not much to compensate for. The only time I bought a Comped gun was for 357 and it was a noticeable help.

I own both types of glocks and can honestly say that the compensated guns are no better or faster when shooting. The compensated guns are a problem at night and when being fired from retention.
If this is a defensive gun buy one without porting. If this is a range toy buy whatever you like and have some fun!

I did a test at Reed's with my G34, G17 and G17C the lights were out above and behind me but the lights 5 yards out or so were on. I did better with the 17C, I did not notice much flashing from the ports and I use Titegroup for my reloads and that is all I shoot through my Glock/s.

I threw in a few extra shots as I did not buy any extra targets, so the G34 looks bad but the main grouping was the test and my goof off shots are kinda hard to tell. I kinda went overboard using my G18 mag on that target, the test were done with my standard 17 round mags

Personally, in a defensive pistol--especially in standard calibers like 9mm, .40 or .45, I think it's an unnecessary gimmick. As mentioned it does ruin night vision and could possibly burn you if fired from retention (pistol held tight to the side). It's best left for competition pistols IMO.

Pretty much what i figured, but nice to get some first hand knowledge too. No one around here has one to rent so unless there's someone in the N. Sac area with standard and compensated models of the same gun that doesn't mind me putting a few rounds down the pipe....looks like I'm SOL on doing my own testing.
