    M&P 9 Magazine Question

I have a new (not even at the range yet) S&W M&P9. Being in CA i have the 10 round magazines.
With the magazine fully loaded (10r) with normal 9mm plinking rounds, the magazine will not engage into the gun unless the slide is open and locked back.
With 9 rounds in the magazine its no problem, slide open or closed.

I called S&W and he briefly said "break it in" which sounds fine to me. But the magazine really doesnt want to engage with 10rounds (of course im not tryin too hard, might not get it back). It stops about 3/16" short of engaging. It seems like its not a problem with the gun but rather the magazine "stretching".

Also that 10th round feels real snug in the magazine, theres no play what-so-ever.

Wondering if anyone has gone through this. Or if somone is able to put loaded 10 round mag into the M&P9 with the slide closed right outta the box tell me as well.

It's advertised as 10+1 and i dont see that happening anytime soon.

The mags are tight in all of the M&P's when new. Push harder...
    It won't break.

Yup, slam that puppy home. Leave the magazines loaded too as that will help break them in.

Pop the magazine on the bottom and she'll click in. I have a 9 and a .40 and they both came real tight.

+1 Leave the mags fully loaded for 2 or more weeks and then you will find that they will seat in the gun with no problems.

10 round mags are always tight to avoid being too loose and allowing an extra round to be loaded. leaving it loaded will allow the spring to take a set and make loading easier.

just slam the mag into the mag well...it's designed to work that way
