    .380 as CCW?

I'll hopefully get my CCW permit sometime this year. I've been thinking of adding a .380 to the lineup for my 3 allowed guns - something small and light I can easily carry in a pocket.

Those of you who CCW a .380, what's your gun of choice?

i don't have a CCW but from a third person account the cops that come into my work like the LCP's and Kahr 380's and the civie's like the PPk and PPk/s. the Sig 232 isn't a bad choice either its just a little more expensive. the bersa is an ok choice but my shop has seen a few back for servicing. if your budget strapped i usually tell people to try and find a gently used PPk over a Bersa

.38 snubbies conceal better, are always reliable, and hit harder.

Here's my Beretta 85F Cheetah .380 after refinishing in OD green and satin black. Trijicons installed. With Hornady TAP rounds on-board, makes a fine CCW.

Of course, a S&W .38 Spcl with CTC grips isn't a bad choice either. Before everyone flames for the finger on the trigger, note that the cylinders are indeed empty.

Both are larger size than the LCP or Kahr. Op wants a pocket gun . Yeah, I know you can fit those in your pocket too (I pocket carried a glock 36) but a 380 makes it alot easier.

            I just got my Kahr

I occasionally carry a Colt Government Mustang Plus II, but only in my vehicle. On my person, I carry a .38 Colt Agent.

I have a CCW from the state I used to live in [worthless here] and I carried for my own protection at the advise of local LE there -- my carry was a Bersa 380. While both heavier and less powerful that a J-frame 38 special, I find that shot place is a lot better with it than any of the small 38 special revolvers I have owned or tried. And it is shot placement that counts -- also mine carries 9+1 vs. 5.
Too old for this and I'm just a junior member? Too old this refers to Ducati's and not women and other things like trap shooting, etc.
The right to have responsible gun ownership is one of the core elements of the American democratic system. Remember, the Bill of Rights is ALL of the first ten amendments, and without the Bill of Rights this country would not be the great one that it is. Protect them all with honor.

You are the first person to give this advice in more years than I can remember. Everyone I know who bought a PPK/s in the last 25 years thought it was best used as a paperweight.
Every Bersa thread on CalGuns has nothing but good to say about the Bersa. I have not seen one person claim it was not reliable. The main complaints are the finish is not the best and the slide latch will wear out, unless you release the slide using the 'slingshot' method.
I bought my Bersa just over 2 years ago. I do not CCW. I do have several hundred rounds through it without a single failure. I would have no problem trusting my life to it.
                  Just my opinion...

Actually, a snubnose, because of its shape, conceals in the pocket better than the Kahr, which still looks like a small brick. I have tried both. But to each his own.

I would say airweight, 5-shot snub nose, it will be easier to find .38's than .380's.

I have to say... I'm a little biased as well against PPKs ever since my wife had to deal with a case where the bad guy had his jam on the second round...

IMHO, .380 is better than nothing, but it wouldn't be my first choice.
