          primary pistol....

          Target shooting
          and
          Zombie Repellant

Thinking 45 for the simple fact that i can't have more than 10 rounds.

If i can only have 10 might as well make them 10 45's.

But like the more compact look of the 40 and the 9.

40 bigger than the 9 and more power less cost of the 45

9mm will return, with interest, any tradeoff it makes in terminal ballistics with a healthy dose of marksmanship. unless you are so wealthy that your practice is not limited by the cost of ammunition,
The Range is a place where you carry a gun around and spend most of your time shooting it.
The Real World is a place where you carry a gun around and spend most of your time not shooting it.
              Plan Accordingly.

If you can afford the ammo go with .45, if not go with 9mm. For me .40 is a bit snappy, but I still own a couple.

If you really plan on shooting a lot, compliment your pistol with a .22 companion for lots of cheap practice.

Regardless of your final choice, start collecting JHPs for potential zombie problems.

Pick the round u shoot best, if ur better with a 9mm then 45 it doesn't matter how many rounds are in your magazine, all the rounds are on target.

Find a range that had the MP line and rent each one and feel the recoil, and all that.

Whatever you shoot the best with!

Several major indoor ranges have rentals in those calibers. Spent a little time, pick a model that feels good in your hand and shoot it! Try all three. Caliber is secondary, bullet placement is primary.

It doesn't matter if it's a 50AE or 22 short, you have to hit what your shooting at whether it be a self defense situation or punching holes in a target. I prefer a 9mm but yet love my Colt 45's. Go figure.

And yes, like others have mentioned, right now 9mm ammo is easier & cheaper to buy / shoot, with 40 cal following a close 2nd. ....Reference 45acp ammo it appears to be on the endangered species list!

Good luck & let us know what you decide on.

The most useful calibers are .357/38 22 and of course 44 magnum. 45 colt is good too and 45 acp will do in a pinch.

Hits are what count, get whatever you can shoot more of and better. Nothing takes the place of trigger time. You can have the baddest 45 in the world but if you don't shoot it how can you rely on it in an emergency.

The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.

                            I shoot them all well.

I like looks of the 40 and the 9 and I have a 1911 already so let's kick out the 45....so what is it 9 or 40? And why?

The two things you should consider are: whether you're accurate or not with the caliber, and whether you can afford to shoot said caliber with the way ammo prices are going.

I shoot 9 and .45. .45 for the punch, 9mm because I can afford more of it.
