    lockable Holster

Hey guys, I'm an avid backpacker and I usually carry UOC on the trail. I have never had any issues but with the possible legislation coming down the pipe, I see my only option being carrying my pistol in a locked container in my pack. Thats not acceptable. Has anyone created a holster that acts as a locked container? I know thats not ideal but it better then locked in a pack.

If this has already been asked I apologize.

where do you hike? It may not be necessary. Depends on location. Or get a hunting licence and hunt instead of hike...........

It's in the San Gorgornio mountain range that I worry. Most of my other packing spots there are no people or rangers.

A Hunting license is something I've been meaning to do. But has anyone made a lockable holster?

What I'd like to know is if a lockable holster is considered a locked container. I would think not, since it still exposes the pistol. Now if the holster had a top flap and covered the entire thing, then maybe it can be a container.

Yeah thats where I was going with this. It's an idea and I'm not sure if such a thing exists.

I'd like to bring this to the top. If a holster conceals the weapon entirely and there is a top flap that can be locked, can this be a legal way of LUCC?

I think I remember reading some where that it would have to be totally enclosed... I like this idea, though.

I have thought about this one before. If you had a holster that is otherwise normal but had the ability to lock the pistol in it and could be concealed on your person could it be used for LUCC. Im guessing probably not

And the reasoning behind it would be?

The problem is that anything recognizable as a 'holster' most likely cannot also be described as
                      a secure
container which is fully enclosed and locked by a padlock, key
lock, combination lock, or similar locking device.
, which is what you need for concealed carry without CCW.

                      I'm willing to be surprised...

A holster that doesn't fully encose the firearm is not a "locked container" per PC. Taking a locked firearm and concealing it, also, doesn't work.

I think a hard plastic design like that with a combination lock built in would be good for this.

You keep it set to one number off and then when the combination is triggered it pops the top on it.

Again, we all know it isn't "practical", but better than locked away in a case in a backpack.
