Just looking for a little input. As title says I'm looking at getting a sub-compact Glock 27/30. If anybody has shot both and can reference how the recoil is, muzzle rise ect. I have a Glock 21 and 23 just looking for something smaller. Ammo not an issue. May also be a HD gun for my wife, when I'm at work. Thanks for the info.

Glock 27 vs Glock 30

If you already have a 21, then you know what the 30 shoots like. Except for a bit less to grip on to, the recoil, muzzle rise, all of it feels the same to me. Maybe (obviously) a LITTLE more severe in the 30.
If you take your 21, and your 23 and fire them both, with a normal grip, EXCEPT let your pinky finger be very loose, you will have an excellent idea what the 27 and 30 shoot like.
I've not owned a 30, but have shot them. I DO own a 21.
I USED to own a 27. The 27 was, to use an overused word, snappy, and a bit more so than the 30. I think that will be true for all similarly sized .40s vs .45s.
If size is an issued, you may want to opt for 27. The 30 isn't much smaller than the 23 when you hold it in your hand. In fact, it is fatter (like the 21 is)
It's never seemed fair that glock still counts their 29 and 30 as "subcompact" models. They are nowhere near as small as the 26 and 27, they just aren't quite as big as the 19 and 23, but they ARE a lot smaller than the 21 or 20sigpic

The large framed Glock (29/30/36) "subcompacts" are actually closer to the size of the compact Glocks (19/23/25/32/38), then the subompact Glocks (26/27/28/33/39). They are called "subcompacts" just for marketing reasons.
I own a Glock 30 and 39.
I initially owned the Glock 30 and picked up the Glock 39 after wanting something smaller to conceal.
I ended up choosing the Glock 39 after I had handle/shot the Glock 26, 27, 33 and 39.
For me, felt recoil was less with the Glock 39 than with the Glock 27 & 33 and I was more accurate with the Glock 39 than with the Glock 27 & 33.
Also for me, felt recoil on the Glock 30 was less than the Glock 27.

Take your wife to a firing range, rent these two pistols and have her shoot them. That will make your decision easier since you said it will be a pistol that your wife will also use when you're at work.
My 2 cents on both pistols:
Both will recoil, but the 27 is snappier and has harder perceived recoil.
I have a friend who's a long time 45 shooter and he really hates shooting the G27.
Since the G30 and the G23 are almost the same size, give the G23 a try as well.
Now, if the grip of the G30 is too big for your wife, check if the firing range has a G30SF.
Good luck in your search. They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.
