    HK USP Accessories

    I have a full-sized HK USP .40 cal.

I want to add two mods:
    (1) Tactical Light; and
    (2) Night sights.

For the tac light, I'm lending toward the Streamlight TLR3. I can get it brand new shipped for $75. Is that a good price? As for installation, will it just slide and clamp on the stock rail?

For the night sights, is there a difference in quality btw. the truglo versus the trijicon night sights? It looks like the truglo sights are a tad cheaper. I can get the truglo sights for 72 shipped as opposed to the trijicon which run $90 + shipped.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance,

    Chris

Not sure on the night sights, but unless they have changed the rail on the most recent USP's, you will need to get an adapter to attach that light. GG&G makes an HK USP adapter for about $40. I got my NC Star adapter on Ebay for about $15 - I wanted to check it out before shelling out $40 for the GG&G one and ya know what? It works just fine. It's a piece of metal that holds securely to the rail - that's all I needed. I use a TLR-2 on my USP 45.

Streamlight now makes a version of the TLR made specifically for the USP line, so you don't need to worry about buying an adapter separately.

For night sights I would probably go with Meprolight Tru Dots since that's what HK uses from factory. Would either go with the Meps or maybe Trijicon.

Did not know this - that's a great deal considering the price of an adapter and it's always better to one less part in the mix (unless you're an audiophile - but that's another website.)
        Thanks!

I have a TLR-3. It fits just fine without adding an adapter (it comes with a few). I can post pics of it (and the original packaging it came in if it helps you any. Been fired thousands of rounds through different XD's and USP's and has never come loose. Can't comment on the night sites as I've only used the Tru-glo's mine came with...hope this helps

*edit* just so we're on the same page this is the link to what I'm talking about

I didn't need to use any of the 6 keys it came with to make the thing fit well. There's a tiny gap between the bezel of the light and the rail which you don't really notice unless you look for it. Doesn't look out of place and more importantly, it doesn't affect function.

          WTB used AK MFER.

you guys are great, appreciate the responses and guidance. i'm a big advocate of doing my research and getting it right the first time.

            here is the ebay link

I'm not sure if its the exact TLR3 solely made for the USP, but the seller said it would fit w/ no problems right out the box. Can you guys tell?

As for the night sights, I'm leaning toward the meprolight tru dots since HK uses them OEM. I was wondering about the differences btw. the tru dots with the smaller dots and longer rails as opposed to the tru dots w/ the fatter dots and shorter rails. Are these just USP-type specific or is the functionality and quality different?

Are there any pros and cons btw. meprolight vs. truglo v. trijicon? I mean, there has to be an explanation for the slight price variance.

That definitely does NOT look like the USP version. It says "COMPACT RAIL MOUNTED TACTICAL LIGHT" which to me means it will fit a standard rail. The one for sale on Midway specifically says "fits HK USP". I would make sure the seller realizes that the HK USP has a proprietary rail on it, because he may just be thinking "Well, the USP has a rail and this light fits rails, so YEAH! This is the light you need!" If he insists it will fit I would get some sort of no-hassle return commitment from him as well.
