Homemade Tec 9?

My buddy who lives in AZ has an Intratec tec9 pistol. The frame is badly cracked, ie almost split in half. I am interested in buying it from him, minus the cracked "evil" lower, and building my own lower for it. Has anyone done this? The tec 9 lower appears to be the most simple lower that I have ever seen as almost all of the critical components are self contained in the upper. I was shocked to see that it is the lower, not the tube upper that is registered. You could almost even mod a sten lower to fit the upper,lol. We even joked about building a lower out of hardwood,lol. Building a new lower reciever looks much simpler than even an ak lower, and from what I have heard, the worst part about a tec 9 is cheep plastic frame. What do you guys think?

Sheet metal would be your best bet.

ya, we were kidding about the wooden lower although Im pretty sure it would work,lol. sheet metal flat type would be the easiest, I thought id see if anyone else has tackled this project yet, especially with tec9s being known for cracked plastic recievers. I wish I could find "flats" similar to mac type flats, havent seen anything like that yet though

I've never seen any aftermarket KG/Tec type receivers on the market.

You could use the remaining lower as a pattern, and a good tool & die man coul;d make up a jig for the fabrication.
