These "workaround" threads are funny. Not very bright, but funny. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it..

Unless I get banned or this gets deleted, or well, you know...

Now, the act of acquiring a large-capacity magazine may be a crime, but the fact that the pistol can use that mag does not make the pistol illegal. In addtion, the XD9m is not on the ROster, so there are hoops that have to be jumped through to transfer one in CA. But, the handgun itself is still legal to own in CA.
I live in california and in arizona, And like to keep my XD9 with me on the road for safety. Arizona is no problem. But when i cross the border is more a pop the trunk, unload, lock up and go thing.
When I bought my XD9 is had a label on the box saying illegal in california.
I was told it was because of the 16rd mags it came with. I have since picked up smaller round mags to keep around when traveling to california.

But I just was worried that it was not legal to have, But I think its just not legal to have it with the 16rd mags, Unless I bought those mags before January 1, 2000 And I think the spare ones I have at home in arizona happen to been made and bought by me before that date, Making them legal here in california too.

I also just checked the safe gun list and it was on there as being legal. So that makes me happier.

right, because of the magazines, it was not legal for sale to CA, due to the large-capacity magazines and possibly due to Roster listing issues with the particular model.. that doesn't mean that the basic firearm was not legal in CA.

the way the law reads is that you had to have possessed those mags in CA before 2000 to be able to re-import them back into the state. Not that you owned them somewhere before 2000.

cool. Just remember that being listed on the safe gun list does not make it legal to own in CA, just that it is legal for an FFL to sell it to people in CA without having to deal with roster-exemptions.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Ah well... If its legal for me to bring with me back and forth.. I spend maybe a week a month in california. Still have and use my Arizona DL. So I wonder if I need to get a hsc to have it.

no, you do not have to have an HSC to possess a handgun in CA.

                why isn't it bright?

As long as it is in a roster-exempt configuraition, it is totally legal to transfer that item through an FFL in CA. The fact that we know that the law allows for that roster exemption and have handguns procurred in a roster-exempt configuration is not illegal.

I'm working on putting together a 1911 import kit for off-roster 1911's that I will rent out to people who want to get a 1911 here in CA that's not on the roster.

It will make ANY 1911 (even an ultra-compact) dimensionally and single-shot compliant when I'm done

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

Take your shots. But your logic is short sighted and missing the big picture here.

My point being these "how can I get around a stupid LAW" theads are a step in the wrong direction. Get RID of the stupid law by supporing CG (foundation), and NRA. And yes, I have contributed to CG, just before the "get a title for contributing" was rolled out.

Absolutely getting rid of the stupid laws is the right thing to do, but these kinds of threads let us do something while the court system is spinning it's wheels.

What really kills me about "THE LIST' is when there is a gun ON the roster as legal DW PM7 S/S, BUT the 2 tone version is not... it is the same gun except its color... One COULD say this is racism lol. Its just ANOTHER to keep us from owning handguns in CA....sad.....

"getting around a stupid law" is also known as being in compliance with them. in any case they need to go away (the stupid laws)

Hey guys we're actually working on something like this right now. We're trying to get you guys as much as we can that's not on the list. Hopefully in the next month or so we wanted to start to get a list of what people would be interested in so we can get what we need for different makes and models. Most of the guns would be on an order basis but we would try to stock what is in more of a demand. We are also trying to make this work so there wouldn't be any extra cost on the parts needed to modify the guns.

Working around the laws and working to get rid of the laws can be accomplished at the same time.
