I just got done looking through the search results that came up for the Taurus revolvers. It seems that nearly everybody likes the 627.
I want to get my parents a handgun for their home (they'll never get one unless I do it for them); something larger than the .22 they have or my rifles that are still living there in my safe. I don't think they'll be using any of my 308's, 223's, or the 300 mag or old 30-30 for quick-grab home-defense, so I'm thinking a dresser drawer gun is a good thing. I also want them to have something for the SHTF scenario as the .22 just isn't going to cut it as the only handgun in the house.
They don't want a short shotgun, and they are both relatively inexperienced when it comes to handguns. With that in mind I'm thinking a .357 would fit the bill due to the variety of loads available.....Everything from 125 to 200 gr stuff for everything from home defense to hiking/camping. 38 spl for lots of cheap range time too. As well, a wheelgun's accurate, reliable, and easy for inexperienced shooters to handle.
So what is the consensus on the Taurus Tracker 627? I haven't been able to find any more negatives about that particular model than the similar Ruger and Smith models, and my local store has one sitting on the shelf. 95% of the reviews I've seen on this Tracker model are great. . . can I get some feedback here from people who own this model?
I'm not looking for an overall Taurus bash here....I know about problems with some of the other models, I'm just looking for info about this one.

Trigger is heavy though, thats the only sorta issue. Not enough to make me think about getting rid of it.
