Kimber gunsmith in the LA area

I am picking up my new kimber custom tle II next week from turners and I am looking to get some work done. Checkering the front strap, ambi safety install. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

if you don't find someone in the LA area, i'd recommend Apex Tactical in the Morro Bay area...that's who i'd use in CA

ambi safety is about 30 min. of work. if it didn't come with a rail, i would avoid trying to have one installed. it is expensive, voids the Kimber warranty and requires refinishing the frame.

I have built several Kimbers for customers. i have yet to see one come out of the box not needing a trigger job -- unless it came directly from the custom shop. Kimbers having gritty triggers with quite a bit of creep. it only takes about an hour to fix this using the existing MIM parts.

i would recommend putting 500 rounds down range prior to having ANY work done. Kimber has been putting out more than a few over tight chambered pistols that had feeding issues out of the box.

you may be fortunate and have one that hums from day one. but prudence dictates that if it has to go back to the factory (they have excellent warranty response), it does so before anyone touches it.

got it. thanks guys, this will really help. i will put some good factory ammo downrange then look into getting some work done. i really want the ambi safety because i shoot left handed and it just feels better for me. i will also move the mag release to the right side. i bet kimber doesn't make a left-handed weapon huh?
on a second note; i am going to have my sig get a makeover and am hopefully getting the slide release put on the right side. going to have to get some mill work done, but hopefully it will turn out the way i want.
