Ruger LCR

I am planning to buy the Ruger LCR or S&W 442 in the next few days. Any thoughts or opinions on this weapon? I already have a few other handguns to use for home defense. My glock 26 is way too heavy to carry in the pocket. I am looking for a gun that is light enough to make a habit of carrying it around the house. A gun for home defense doesn't do much good if you dont have it with you. Do you think the Ruger LCR or even the Smith & Wesson 442 is much lighter and easier to carry than the Glock 26?

I've had the 642 and have shot the 442 and LCR. All will carry well even in the front pocket of sweat pants. Add a set of CT grips and any of them would make a good HD gun. I personally like 642 or 442 because I'm partial to SW but the LCR had a good trigger, but felt a little bulkier than the other two.

Someone had posted a you-tube video comparing the 442 and the LCR -- wish I had a link to it. I'll try to summarize --
DA Trigger

• 442 took a greater effort but one could feel just before it broke
• LCR less effort, smooth; but less feedback as to when it would break

Recoil -- Both had heavy recoil with +P loads

• LCR line of action lessened muzzle rise
  LCR grip better absorbed felt recoil
  442 has a sharper "corner" that tended to dig into the web of the hand.

Both are comparable and viable choices.

that by itself would make me choose the LCR

i have carried a 642 for many years and if i had to choose again, i'd get a LCR just for the feel of the gun in my hand and the smoothness of the trigger...the trigger is everything, especially in a gun this size.

and this from someone who wouldn't own another Ruger GP-100 or SP-101...they both felt like bricks
