    Squirrels

I have lots of nuisance squirrels in my area. Which also happens to be a country tract setting. I have been using my pellet gun a .177 but its hard when they are on the run which is often. So I usually only get 1 shot at them. I want to use a .22 with snake shot. Can anyone suggest a handgun to use....cheap? Hopefully something quite like my pellet sort of.
    Thanks!

I'd not use snake shot. The only thing I'd use snake shot on is wasps, etc.

Get a pellet rifle, even a kid's model will work fine and be easier to use "stealth", I have a Gamo Delta myself that works great. Stick (lol) some peanut butter out there to make 'em stand still

If you use a .22 rifle, use CB shorts or CB longs, BE ABSOLUTELY SURE OF YOUR BACKSTOP in other words, you'd better be shooting towards a mountain range with pretty much no one out there, or something comparable.

The trouble with a handgun is the short barrel makes any .22 round louder. Pellet guns basically rule for this use. If you just must use a rifle, be aware that people can see a rifle almost with eyes on the back of their head and you can get into trouble.

Pistols are not recommended for game shooting for something like 99% of humans anyway, a pellet rifle is what I"d recommend. a smallish cheapish one like the Gamo Delta and just make darned sure no one sees you.

im with you. I have a Gamo big cat from big 5 for $120 and i can kill a squirrel at 40 yards with one pellet. A handgun will just be loud and no where near as accurate. If you want to get them on the run and dont care about noise i would say .410 all the way.

NO NO NO! Snake shot wont do it unless you are like a foot away (I dont like that stuff for even snakes, snakes too close get a shovel or the nearest Ho.) I have some Colibri .22 that might be good out to 20 feet at best (that is still probably more suitable for wasp or bigger bugs). I am about to get 4" Ruger 22/45 to play around with at the picknic table for punching paper a few feet away or rats that are at my feet. Since I cant get a 7+ Taurus .22 revolver in our great state of KA. if you are not willing to buy an S&W .22 for seven bills, Get a Gamo Whisper .177 and use unleadedlead ammo if they are ground squirrels, if they are tree squires you are required by law in the Condor Zone to use non lead alloy pellets. I will let you know how the 4'' works out with the Colibri ammo. FWIW I have tried to thin out bushy tailed rats and Jacks but it's like fighting China, they keep coming, they breed faster than you can reload!
The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Ruger single six with Colibri ammo. Absolutly silent, your only gonna hear the hammer drop and nothing else.

The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.

Uh, not quite. It still gives off a pretty good POP, but not quite as loud as my pellet gun.
