I'd usually detail strip and clean every ~1,000 or so but have went beyond that with no problems.

Oil is good and so is denatured alcohol...

I know what the manual says which is why I recommended to clean it out. I've seen new Glocks with oil in the stiker channels. It didn't stop those guns.

His case was the slide not in the locked/firing position when it failed to ignite which is 'failure to feed'. I suspect the same cause for the light primer hit. The point of cleaning the channel out is to remove any and all obstructions. I've seen brass shavings stuffed in the channel preventing the striker from fully extending thru the firing pin hole.

Glocks jam?!? Blasphemy!!!!! (as I rip my coat)

jk. Clean the slide and don't over oil the gun. Just a little goes a long way.

Edit: someone beat me to it. Hahaha

Well I can tell you that having too much oil/grease/lard whatever you want to use on the rails can also slow down the slide velocity to keep it from cycling properly and that is with almost any handgun so there is probably sludge all through that thing and it needs to be cleaned and lubed correctly as stated in Glocks manual. Do that and you can easily shoot it for over 1000 rounds easily without cleaning and without any problems. In fact many go well beyond 2000 rounds...

Well, the 1/16th inch out-of-battery symptom seems to be a dead giveaway: a gunked-up, gooped-up, fouled-up slide channel.

Glocks have - by design - a somewhat lighter recoil spring than other similar guns. This has advantages, but the disadvantage is that over-oiling or over-greasing the slide or rails can easily result in FTF or the classic "1/16th out ..." symptom.

Clean that slide and rail really well, LIGHTLY grease with something good like Shooters Choice or Tetra Grease ... you'll be fine.

When i said NEW shooter I meant I am not advanced by any means not a complete noob. When i took the beginning pistol class the TAC guys, they never said anything about me limpwristing. I have shot about 1500 rounds through other glocks and about 1000 rounds through this one. So i don't think that was my problem. As far as my cleaning goes i follow the hickok45 vids to the T, even as far as picking up some ballistol from the show last month. Thanks for everything guys/gals. I have learned a lot from CGN!!

I use Weaponshield CLP which I prefer over Gunbutter or any other CLP I've ever used. I tried to watch that video but I got sleepy but I will give you another copy of how to properly lube your Glock:

FTF's are usually magazine or grip related. Get your hand up high on the pistol "beavertail"; the skin should appear smushed. Don't lock your wrists. Let the pistol recoil naturally. If you are still having problems, replace magazine spring.

I think that could have been your problem if the gun was gunked up. I think Glocks can have off-center or light strikes if you fire a round without the gun returning fully to battery. It should be fine if you clean it out really well.
