    Dan Wesson 44 mag?

Ok so I think the rommate has one (Well it was her Dad's), I say think because she opened up an old gun case today and it had a spare grip and a 44 mag barrel that had Dan Wesson stamped into the side. Are these rare? Never heard of a Dan Wesson revolver. Any clues to what this might be worth? I am trying to get a photo ASAP.

***Edit*** It might not be a 44 but it is one with the interchangeable barrel.

You'd need a barrel and cylinder to turn it into a different caliber.

They're rare, though I don't believe they're exceedingly valuable, cool guns though http://www.notpurfect.com/main/dwrev.htm

You really can't convert the DW to "another caliber" It was not meant to. They are the most accurate double action revolver I have ever owned. They are getting to be worth more and more as people realize how good they were.

The Current owners are CZ and they have really nothing but the name. DW revolvers ruled in long range shooting.

There are several reasons why they are so accurate. First, they are an extremely well made revolver in most cases...

Next.. they lock up with a huge lock at the crane of the cylinder instead of a front and rear or a little crane detent.

Next.. the barrel itself is the reason.. It is screwed into the frame at one end by hand where a precise BC gap can be set.. then.. the shroud is slipped over the barrel and an internal nut is used on the threads of the barrel at the muzzle end to tension the barrel at both ends.

It is a stout revolver meant to take a beating from stout magnum loads for knocking down steel rams at 300 yards.
