cleaning the glock

Older Glock rails were machined from a stainless. Later, in the gen 3 guns, they moved over to a stamped and nickled plated slide rail configuration. Ammonia will strip the nickle plating and allow corrosion to set in. Removing the nickle, either by chemical stripping or wear, is not going to inhibit function of the gun but it will drastically reduce it's corrosion resistance and greater care will need to be taken to ensure potentially hazardous damage doesn't set into the gun.

so nothing will rust from doing this? I remember at the end of basic training we got a oil spray table that we just put our m16's in and let it sit in there for 5 mins, but never heard of dishwasher. sounds good to me, but not sure if the internals will rust.

god I hated those resin tanks. Don't have them anymore because they are an environmental nightmare. Things would make my hands raw as hamburger. I never got to use them in basic though, all CLP and toothbrush.

Ive washed every weapon I was ever issued with HOT water and soap. Most of the time the water makes the metal hot enough that whatever you miss will evaporate, but you have to wipe everything down really well and put a light coat on it.

The only thing that has ever come out of the dishwasher rusty was my XD. I will not put my 1911 types in there because they deserve better, and the glock goes in there every time because it just doesn't really matter to me. Glock 9mm is the closest thing to a squirt gun I own.

im suprised noones said "its a glock it doesnt need to be cleaned!"

asfor the parts on the inside, ill put a little dab but not alot. plastic parts dont need to be oiled.

hahahaha yeah they did mess with my skin too. i used them about 4 years ago , from what you say they must be all gone! thats good.
