Dan Wesson has a better rep. But I've been happier with my two kimbers a .45 and 10mm than my CBOB. Better triggers, less issues.

haha I am in the same boat! After all the research it has come down to a PM7 or a Kimber custom II. What ever one pops up first for sale at a good price im taking! It will most likley be the Kimber since there is more of them out there.

My Custom II has been excellent. I sent it back to Kimber and the service department was beyond great. Took care of the problem (which turned out to be not their problem) and kept me informed of when it would be fixed and returned. Never have I had better customer service.

I purchased 2 old Colt 45 magazines and when I used them the slide stop would come loose and work its way out. Looking at the magazines there was the ever so slightest difference at the top where the bullets go in. Guess that is what caused it. I bought some Kimber magazines from them to make up for the free service they provided.

I have also talked to a lot of people who say this is not possible. Well, it happened so it is possible. No one can explain to this day why those 2 Colt mags purchased at Vallejo Gun Show made my Kimber malfunction. In fact, I have gotten into semi heated arguments with "gun know it alls" as I hear a lot of "all 1911 magazines work in 1911's".

I spent my $ on the DW PM7. I received it this past January. For the price, it is the best choice, IMHO.

I have a colt .45 1911 magazine that didn't work at all in my SA 1911-A1 seems to fit alright in my Kimber, but i'm in no real need to use it. Anyway, Kimber's are great and can be found for not such outrageous prices

I'm batting two for three with Kimber, I'd go for the Wesson.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

The DW's I've seen lately are a small step below some of the semi-customs for fit....about TRP level. Older ones I've seen were a little rougher on fit/finish, but the new ones I've seen have been incredibly good for a "production" gun.

I saw DW just because it is built the way a 1911 is supposed to be. Any new Kimber will have a firing pin block....

My Kimber Custom II TLE/RL came in a lil under $1200 after all the fees and taxes; the Dan Wesson PM7 would have cost around $1400. I just picked up the Custom a few weeks ago and have gone through about 300 rounds; I am still smiling. Granted, the salesperson was telling me I was making a mistake on leaving the DW behind since it was so tight and so elusive; I still am happy with my purchase. If you do get the Kimber, get some better mags like the Kimber Pro-Tac as the stock one is garbage.

OK as the owner of one each I like my Dan CBOB better then my Kimber CDPII. Kimber is lighter but Cbob has a much better fit and finish, feels great in the hand, both shoot good groups and are 100% reliable so far and thats about 2500-3000 rounds each. so which ever you like get.

I would say go with DW, I don't have a 1911 but that seems a very popular choice for the $1k range. It is a good value. Kimbers are probably good too but more people talk about the DW.

One thing,U can fine Kimber at any gun shop but if U fine DW at your local gun shop is call....Lucky....

DW will be end they CA product at the end of this years and most gun is just run dry and hard to fine.
most DW have for sale is Pointman 7 for over 1150.

for money I will go with Dan Wesson.
                            good lucky hunting.
