    Kimber Rust

So I picked up my brand new, first ever 1911 yesterday (Kimber Custom TLE II). I look it over in the store and everything seemed fine. Get it home, take it apart to clean, and find out that the barrel is covered in surface rust. WTF?! I'm going to be calling Kimber CS today but was wondering if anyone else has/had this problem and how they dealt with it. Thanks guys.

i picked up my kimber yesterday and it was fine. ive heard about the issue you are having being somewhat common. if the things ive heard about kimbers customer service are true, you should have no problems getting this taken care of.

    good luck

Same thing on my Kimber no big deal it should just come right off. From what I've read on other forums this is a problem on Kimber's barrels. Once you get it off make sure to keep it well lubed or it will come back.

Funny, I just picked up the exact same gun (well, railed) and my barrel was spotless. Spot of bad luck I guess. Clean it if you want, but I bet you can have Kimber take care of it.

I worked at the SJ Gun Exchange, believe when I say most Kimber 1911s have issues with rust!

If your interested, getbulletsandbrass has a vendor who sells aftermarket match barrels. They also have barrelas that are ported for improved handeling, and threaded barrels for those of you who live out of Kalifornia.

Keep it oiled... Scrub with 000 steel wool to remove staining. It's just surface coloration from the steel being "in the white". Duracoat it, or have someone parkerize it for you.
