Oh my gawd jhp self defense ammo is expensive. I remember when federal hydra-shoks in pretty much any caliber was $20. I picked up alot Speer GD +p's for $16 bucks a 50rd box back in 2007 and am so happy I did.

As long as you stick with speer, winchester (SXT...same exact thing [to black talons]) or federal you should be good. Just look for deal!

Just a heads up, SXT is not the same thing as Black Talons and are on their 4th or 5th revision and now to the Bonded PDX1.

I have Remingon Golden Saber 9mm, 124 grain.

I'm gangsta... I use 9mm reloads.

Any .45ACP JHP will do the job.

However, for 9mm, I use Federal 115 gr JHP C9BP for standard loads and 124 gr Gold Dots for +P.

On a related note, I just picked up a couple of boxes each of the 9mm Winchester Ranger Talon 147gr SXT HP ammo, and the 9mm Speer LE Gold Dot 147gr HP ammo. I couldn't find any Fed HST ammo so I just got those.

Between the Winchester Ranger Talon and the Speer Gold Dot, which one would be a "better" round to use for loading up in some spare mags and keeping them in the safe for HD purposes?
