    Buying ammo in LA

recently some questions were raised about delivery of ammo bougth on internet to Los Angeles.

I live in LA and just received shipment from ammoman.com.
Something 'funny' had happened, though. UPS just LEFT box in from of my door.... and the box had sign in big bold letters that said:

9mm Luger 1000 Full Matal Jacket cartriges....

Makes me wonder about liability issues both for me and ammoman.com///

The essence of Western civilization is the Magna Carta, not the Magna Mac. The fact that non-Westerners may bite into the later has no implications for their accepting the former.

EDIT 2020: To be fair that seems to apply to many Westerners also.

Guess it depends on your area. I rather take the chance of leaving the ammo then having to go pick it up. Of course that is my opinion only.

Same thing for me this week...

...only I ordered about 5,000 rounds (9mm, .223, .308, 12 gauge) most of it tactical, hollow point, or other special loads. Ammoman didn't even ask for a copy of my CDL like Empire Arms did in the past (although they now no longer sell ammunition). Might as well take advantage of it while you can before you're no longer allowed to buy or possess ammunition in Los Angeles.

Ammoman wouldn't ship to my L.A. address. I even emailed to ask why and Eric (ammoman, I presume) told me he stopped shipments to Los Angeles.

Whenever I get an ammo shipment from Cheaper Than Dirt they put a hazmat decal on the box ("ORM-D" for Other Regulated Materials... same as hairspray and such) and then the UPS guy won't drop it w/o adult signature.

FWIW, USPS won't allow you to ship in boxes that have any words or logos on them except what's on the delivery and return address labels.

I got ammo from Sportsman's Guide and had no problems shipping to LA. (www.sportsmansguide.com). They just slap an ORM-D sticker on it, like scott said. Except they just left it at my door. Guess they haven't had any liability issues??
