Try pressing the trigger as you work the slide back and forth.

For ****s and giggles I just took the recoil spring out of my G17.

I see where you're having a problem. I basically held the slide so everything is where it's supposed to. I dry fired the gun while holding the slide in place. I kept my finger ON the trigger keeping it depressed. I turned the gun upside down [ejection port towards the ground]. Then placed my fingers on the takedown lever. Shook the gun around lightly while applying forward pressure on the back of the slide. It came apart.

It was a little funky because I was holding the slide in place and the trigger down... but it worked. And for a moment I was cursing your name because the gun kept on going out of battery and my trigger kept on quasi resetting on me.

        Hahaha
I tried that and it worked. I should of realized my mistake initially when the barrel was falling out as I was reassembling it. Hey, good to know for next time.
Thanks, I owe you a box of 9

          :P

I wouldn't be buying me a box of 9mm after what I said about you. For the briefest of moments I was saying some pretty bad things about you. I figured I was f'd until you got an answer because I was in the same boat as you. The only difference was that I reassembled w/o a recoil spring on purpose.

On 2nd thought... make it some .308 or a val pack of 22

              Welcome to the club!

I did the same years ago on my first G22 when playing around with aftermarket guide rods. Thought I was going to have to face the embarrassment of taking it to my local "Glocks are for Dummies" gunsmith...then found out the 'upside down' trick by pure luck.

Thank you all. Thanks Calguns.net for keeping the thread!

@jdewolf - Thank you very much for the post. I thought I was going to have to go into a gunsmith. I hung it upside down and shook it for a little while. The softer I shook is when it came lose. Appreciate you!

I did this with my 23 yesterday. Replaced the slide with no barrel or spring lol

Hold the trigger and slide it back and forth and let to of the trigger and pull back and forth. You won't hurt it but don't go full he-Mann on it either.

It will come free. Happens to the best of us.

Edit: Wow a 2010 thread lol
