XD40 Failure to Fire

I was at the range the other day and I was shooting my XD40. It had 3 failure to fires. Two the primers was lightly dimpled and the other one there was no dimple from the firing pin. Do the springs where out on the firing pin? Could it need a good cleaning internally? If so is there a guide on how to break it down past field stripping?

Back story:

I bought it used and I have put maybe 500rds though it and am not sure of the amount that was put through it before me. Also there is not a whole lot of visible wear on the gun.

Clean it out real good, lube her up and give it another try, if the same problem continues give SA a call even thought u may not be the original owner they will most likely help you out and get your XD back to normal.

clean it out, my XD has about 2500 rounds through it and have not had any striker issues. I just do regular cleanings and don't use too much oil, it causes buildup of gunk

Thanks for the input, I feel like I may have used to much oil in the past, is there a way for me to break it down further than the field stripping so I can clean out any built up gunk where I cant scrub it? Would compressed air work better?

What about an ultrasonic cleaner?

"Used Factory Ammo" equals reloads. Without knowing the quality of components, and the reliability of the reloader, I would try some different "Unused" factory ammo, AKA "New"....ammo before worrying too much about it. I've put over 8000 rounds through mine without any firing pin issues. Just a thorough cleaning every 500-700 rounds. HTH c good

You can check the condition of your firing pin tip to make sure it's not broken by pushing and holding down on the firing pin safety and pushing the firing pin (brown) forward and exposing the tip. Looks suspiciously like too much gunk buildup inside though.

You can also completely disassemble the slide to make sure the parts are all there. While you're doing that, make sure the roll pin on top isn't broken in half. Instructions are here:

back to the point, i've never had a problem with my xd40, i would change the fp spring when you clean that area out, just cuz
