    Best mac clone in CA?

Hi, I haven't posted in a while. I am thinking of blowing a bit of my tax return on a Mac or an Ak pistol. Figured what better way to blow some cash. All of the Mac clones that I have seen in CA all have this butt ugly muzzle brake attached to them. Is there a barrel length law that must be obeyed? Can I get one with a non threaded barrel and call it good? Thanks in advance/
    The gun doesn't smell loaded.

The open bolt Macs from RPB and Cobray are legal and very cool, but those tend to be more expensive than the closed bolts. The muzzle brake is probably perm. attached to destroy the threads which we cannot have on detachable magazine style handguns. There is a barrel length to do the single shot exemption, but other than that no.

Check out the Masterpiece Arms handgun I am selling in my sig, no ugly muzzle brake

The most popular AK pistol right now is the Draco's becauses they are so inexpensive. I think most Calgunners are getting theirs from Henderson Defense and Atlantic Arms. I personally think the Bulgarian and the Yugo krink style AKs are much nicer but they are also atleast 2x more than the Dracos.

I'm pretty sure that muzzle device is for two reasons. First is the "minimum barrel length" required on a single-shot, roster exempt pistol (which is how these are even importable in the first place... and I forget exactly what it is... 5" maybe?) and second is the already mentioned "no threaded barrels on detachable mag pistols in CA" law. After the gun is in your possession I'm pretty sure you can legally remove the muzzle device for length reasons, BUT you would need to make sure threads were stripped off before re-assembling the weapon to be completely legal.

I'm not 100% sure on the barrel length part though, so please make sure you are allowed to modify the barrel to below a certain length before proceeding.

Make your own AK pistol! I can't hit squat with any MAC I've ever owned but, I can consistantly hit the 200 and 300 yard gongs at Angeles with the AK pistol I built. OK, I have to use a rest but, the gun and factory sights can do it.
