Now when Master Gunsmiths like CT Brian, John Harrison, Ted Yost, Stan Chen etc, go out of their way to use MIM in place of their quality components then I will possibly change my mind.

i don't want to get into the whole kimber vs. SA vs. w/e brand argument because it's been argued ad nauseam and nobody's going to change anybody else's mind. i personally prefer SA over kimber, but that's just me.

what i guess i'm failing to understand is why you seem so dead set on comparing $5-6000 full house custom 1911s by gunsmiths that frequent LTW with a ~$1000 production 1911? i would think that it was quite obvious gunsmiths of that caliber would use the best parts available to them, so obvious they wouldn't go near a MIM part. what does your comparison add to this discussion?

If you actually read my original posts you'd see that I posted this:
"Sorry, I was smart enough to pay for an overpriced handicapped Kimber and bought a new Baer for about the same price"

FWIR, I remember many Kimbers going in the $1200+ range while I bought my Les Baer TRS for $1610 from www.proload.com and the PII's were even going for $1400 as well. So you can get a cheaply IMO production built "pretty and sparkly" 1911 or get one made correctly for a little more... It's your choice

Or how about a Dan Wesson for under $1k and is better made as well? There are better choices IMO but you have to actually research it and quit getting advice from the bubbas at the typical gun shop. Hell I'd take a Springfield loaded over any II Kimber.


And the reason I'm listing places like 10-8 and LTW is because they are a wealth of knowledge and know what makes a gun tick.

6000+ rounds in my kimber warrior only 2 fte and 1 ftf. I also read somewere that kimber makes the most 1911's out of any other manufacture so theirs bound to be some lemons
