    Pistol OK, SBR not OK

Could someone explain and/or point me to a FAQ that explains why it's ok in CA to have, say, an AR pistol, but not an SBR? Isn't an AR pistol basically the same as an SBR AR, except the former has a tube and the latter has a buttstock?

    thanks!

Also rifle ok, long barreled pistol not ok.

Just think the idiots that came out with these laws... they must call their sister "mama".

Gun Control - A theory espoused by some monumentally stupid people; who claim to believe, against all logic and common sense, that a violent predator who ignores the laws prohibiting them from robbing, raping, kidnapping, torturing and killing their fellow human beings will obey a law telling them that they cannot own a gun.

It's just the way it is here, it doesn't make sense. In most other states, people build an AR pistol then submit their paperwork to SBR their firearm. Since the average Joe cannot own an AR SBR here, we are stuck with an AR pistol. For now at least.

Technically yes, the buttstock is what defines a rifle from a pistol.

Yup, you got it right, and no, it doesn't make sense.

You can have a 10 foot long barrel on a pistol... just not a stock.

Well, AR pistol has a fixed 10 round mag. No other legal configuration for us non-LEO mortals.

I think Washington allows everything under the sun...except SBR.

If the law did change, one could swap the tube out for a standard AR stock, right? There's no other difference?

Just to be clear, LEO is not exempted from AW regulations.
They do have a better chance to get an AW permit than us mortals tho.

Yeah it's funny 'cause a rifle caliber pistol just begs you to "spray it from the hip" ... dumb laws. They've legislated us in to having exactly what they didn't want us to have.. and it's our only option since we can't have what we want, which is just a handy rifle. Criminals can easily make a short barreled rifle out of a regular rifle, and yet us law-abiding citizens can't even keep one in our house to protect ourselves, property and loved ones without becoming a felon.

I'm not necessarily trying to equate firearms as hand tools, but imagine if we could only buy hammers that were at least 30". Hohoho.

I'm interested in the Lwrc pistol. Not sure whether to get it in 5.56 or 6.8. I noticed it comes with a single round magazine? What's up with that? And could you guys point to the laws about pistols? I'm fairly well versed on CA rifle law, BBs, etc. But I know very little about these pistols. Also does anyone here have the Lwrc? Do you like it? Any problems?

                            Thanks in advance!!!

Because it is not on the approved list, it has to be sold by a CA FFL dealer as a single-shot pistol.

If you are in SoCal, check out RifleGear in Costa Mesa. They have the LWRC PSD pistol in stock.
