Is it just the barrel or is it the entire upper slide assembly? The 34 has a longer sight radius making it easier to aim and hit your target. It is like shooting different length rifles with just iron sights the longer rifle will be easier to aim. If it is just the barrel than I really so no big advantage other than more velocity. Basically if you have the G34 upper slide that was placed on a G17 frame, it is only .9 of an oz heavier than a G17. It would be just as good as a G17 for HD, the difference between the barrels is .82 of an inch? For general self defense it might be a little harder to carry with you since it is longer. If you are using it for HD just put some nice night sights on it and get some ammo and practice. No need to sell it, it will be just as good or better than a G17. I was thinking about getting a OD G34 so I can swap between a OD G34 and a RTF2 G34 since I have a G17 RTF2. If the G34 came in RTF2 I would have gotten that instead of the G17 even though I cannot shoot amateur civilian with it in GSSF.

Edit: If you just have the G34 barrel in the G17 assembly you can just sell your G34 barrel and get a G17 barrel if you really want to. They sell for around $150 new and you can get a decent price for your G34 barrel, it is a lot easier than selling the entire gun and then buying a new one.

i believe the OP only mentioned using a glock 34 barrel on a glock 17.
its just like replacing your stock barrel with an aftermarket extended barrel.

"It is commonly believed that the longer the barrel, the greater the velocity from a handgun. As a general matter, this is true. The longer barrel permits more complete combustion of the powder, with greater velocities resulting."

"It is also largely a myth that longer barrels are intrinsically more accurate. In fact, bullets are stabilized after a very short amount of barrel travel, and short-barreled handguns can be remarkably accurate."

"An undeniable advantage of longer barrels, especially with powerful magnum calibers, is that by placing weight toward the muzzle, they help reduce the punishment of recoil. They also do a lot toward muting muzzle blast."

"Shorter barrels are customarily considered handier to carry, but careful holster selection can often make it just as convenient to carry a longer handgun or nearly so. The vertical shoulder holster or a canted crossdraw holster are particularly useful with long-barreled handguns."

the quotes above have been lifted from guns and ammo handgun magazine.

I have a 17C and I was planning on getting a regular non compensated 9mm barrel for training. I considered getting a 34 barrel. Can you post a pic?

If you have both barrels you are golden. If you really don't want to the G34 barrel it is worth like said above $100-135. They are around $150 new

Selling the barrel alone? No. It is not a firearm.
